Testimonial from Bruce regarding Bilateral Makoplasty Partial Knee Replacements

My knees began to cause me worsening pain when I was in my mid-thirties. By my early fifties my knees caused me consistent and significant pain sufficient to preclude my active lifestyle. From my early 50s through my early 60s, I underwent two arthroscopic knee procedures on each knee by other physicians. Unfortunately these procedures provided me with only minor and temporary relief insufficient for me to return to my active lifestyle.

After seeking relief from my knee pain from Dr. Durkin, he performed two partial knee replacements. I had my left knee partially replaced the day before Thanksgiving in 2012 and the right knee partially replaced the day before Thanksgiving 2013.

After the surgeries and a short period of recovery, I have been able to use my legs with virtually no knee pain! Dr. Durkin and his team gave me a wonderful gift by letting me enjoy an active lifestyle once again.

In mid-2014 about 7 months after my last knee surgery I began tracking my activities using Fitbit technology and Garmin biking technology among other means.

The result of these surgeries has been nothing short of life changing for me. Since mid-2014 I am walking, on average, over 50 miles per week which amounts to a little over 100,000 steps per week. On an annualized basis that is some 5.2 million steps a year. In addition, in 2015 I biked for just under 2,000 miles which rose to just over 3,500 miles in 2016. In addition, I participate in other exercise classes and a enjoy a generally active lifestyle.

The health benefits from my more active lifestyle enabled by my partial knee replacement surgeries have been substantial. I lost 40 pounds in the first year and have lost an additional 30 pounds since then. My blood pressure is back to normal, my resting heart rate is consistently between 55 and 60 beats per minute and my cholesterol is down. Bottom line, my overall health is excellent.

I went through 10 years and 4 knee surgeries with unrelenting knee pain, gaining 100 pounds along the way. Now, imagine 5.2 million painless steps per year and you have some idea how grateful I am for the work done by Dr. Durkin. The work of Dr. Durkin has allowed me to be as active as I want to be. I cannot adequately convey how important that has been to my happiness For me these surgeries by Dr. Durkin and his team have been my own personal miracle.
